Saying goodbye to our past horses
  Rainbow Bridge Tribute

'Some final thoughts from their grieving owners'.

Big Ben:
I adopted a black percheron named Zeus and an old belgium named Ben. Zeus (renamed Bruce) is doing just fine but it is with great sadness I tell you that Ben had to be put down last Wednesday. He was doing wonderful, never showed any sign of illness but last Wednesday I got a call from my neighbor that he was lying down in the paddock. She tried to get him put but couldn't get his legs under him. I left work as soon as I could. They had covered him with blankets to help keep him warm. He raised his head when I came into the paddock and greeted me. I tried to get him up as well but it was clear that wasn't going to happen. His gums were very pale and I could barely detect a heartbeat. It was just his time. I got more blankets for him and fed him apples until it was time to put him down. He went peacefully. I miss him very much. He had such a funny swagger when he walked and he loved apples so. I thank you for the opportunity you gave me to have him be a part of my life.

Isaac:
He's buried here, as near to Sweetpea's grave as we could put him- they were so attached to each other so quickly, it was like they had been waiting for one another, I truly believe tha...t. Isaac was an amazing horse. I'll never forget his loyalty to her. After she died, he stood up in the field as far up as he could in the uppermost corner and whinnied for her for three solid days. This is the first time in years we've not had a big, old belgian in our field. Neither of us are ready for another one yet but I like to think that someday we will be.

Razen:
My Razen, my big pup, my funny boy. I miss you terribly. You brightened my day and made me laugh. We shared a lot of ups and downs, brought each other through rough times. I look forward to seeing you aga...in on the other side of that rainbow bridge, watching you run and play, knowing all I need to do is call your name and you'll be by my side. Good-bye my big guy. I love you!
